Best Practices for Tapping Into 12v Battery for Headlights

I have a Peg Perego Gator and Guacho Rockin I want to add headlights to. What are the best ways to get 12v from the battery? I see some people cutting back the insulation by the battery connector then just wrapping some wire on at that point. Is this the standard way to tap into the battery or are there nicer ways to obtain the 12v's from the battery.

I tried searching but I didn't see many ideas on how everyone does this part.
