Post by Ilan »

Hi, first sorry about my bad english
As the topic say.. i want to upgrade my kid mercedes 12v to 24v. Befor i spend money on new engins to the wheels i put two 12v battries in series. Evrything work except the electric steering, seems its not work on 24v. Not with the wheel and not with the remote... what can i do?

If the original car was 12 volts, then the electric steering is also 12 volts.
Unless you have a separate circuit of 12 volts going to the actuator, the steering actuator is receiving 24 volts from the two batts wired in series.
This higher than designed voltage may damage the actuator or it simply won’t work.
If you try to power a 24 volt accessory with 12 volts, it may work very slowly or it won’t work at all.
So you will either need to provide a 12 volt source for the actuator or use a voltage step down unit to reduce the 24 volts to 12 volts just prior to the actuator power hook up.
