Hello. I see this post is coming up on a year old but I was wondering if you came up with an alternative? I found this exact same thing happening yesterday and I figured it was some sort of over voltage protection. I wonder if using 2 12v 6ah batteries wired in parallel would get more life and for sure faster charge times. Not any extra power but maybe some extended play time at least. Thanks

Another option I was looking into, since I already purchased batteries and cradles for 2 of these vehicles, is a DC converter to step it down from 18v to 12v

I am about to snatch one of these. Why can’t they be modified? You can’t strip out all the electrics and rewire for 24v?
Another question: would you even want to? I’ve thus far stuck to missing dune racers not, for their low center of gravity. I have one I’ve lengthened, 24v ESC mod with rubber wheels and it runs great, so it’s hard to imagine not being able to mod a boomerang. But would this boomerang thing be safe at better speeds?

After doing the wire modifications I noticed that once I made the final battery connection there was a tiny spark (none of the other 3 ride ons did that). I had my daughter get in the driver's seat...and it started driving (fast) for about 2 seconds, then shut down. The Boomerang has a battery light meter under the gear shift which only has 3 colors (green, orange and red) to show how much charge the battery has. But when connecting the 18v in-series batteries...and after about 5 seconds of being connected, the light turns from green to purple (a new color). I disconnected and tried multiple times, always with the same result. If I had my daughter step on the gas pedal quickly right after I made the final battery connection, we'd get about 3 seconds of (fast) ride time until it shuts down. I'm thinking this newer Boomerang must have some "smart" sensor that detects the motor is getting more than 12v of power. So, I'm looking for a way to disable this sensor, or whatever is causing the car to not accept the 18v battery setup.

Thank you
How many motors does that model have- is it just one on the single rear wheel?

It has 3 motors, one for each wheel.

Another person in the same situation as above. I've modified our Dune Racer and then got the Boomerang to do the same.

Does anyone know what the codes mean for purple flashing lights? I saw in another post that tech support said they refer to different issues based on speed of flashing and number. In this case the light flashes 1 time, pauses and then flashes 8 times fast.

I'm also assuming there is no way to take the voltage sensor on the board out of path by redirecting, etc...?
