REVEIW- Banebots 775 18volt motor
These are the motors..... http://banebots.com/pc/MOTOR-BRUSH/M7-RS775-18
They are actually Mabuchi RS775WC-8514. The part number is on them under the BaneBots sticker.
I had lots of questions about these so I had to test them. I was looking for more torque and the 1175 mn-m rating on these was astounding. The stock PW motors are under 400 mn-m. They are advertised at 273 watts at peak efficiency. (scooter motors are 250 watts)
I was concerned about the gearboxes and the wires. These draw lots of amps!
The first thing that caught my eye was the thickness of the torgue sleeve....one big chunk of steel!
I put these in my 18 volt 4x4 jeep for testing. Since they are 18 volt motors I installed them without heatsinks, just like they came out of the box.
The motors bolted right to the #7 gearboxes without issue. The pinion , however, required some "tinkering". The shaft on this motor is not long enough to install the pinion gear "backwards" as required for the #7 GB. I installed it frontwards(set screw side facing the motor) and made a shim out of some lexan scraps to line up the gear. It was nessassary to grind a flat on the motor shaft for the set screw.
It was easy to trace the motor onto the clear lexan. I cut out a few cooling slots, along with the monting holes, so the air could pass into the motor.
Due to the slightly lower rpm of this motor, I swapped out the 19ts for some 21ts.
PERFORMANCE......WOW "TORQUE MONSTER"
I am using a 60/80 amp throttle relay in this jeep. I have no idea how stock stuff would hold up. The 12 ga wire will all 4 motors running off it, gets slightly warm. The motors have not exceeded "warm" either
At one point there were two kids in this (about 80 pounds) in deep wet snow. Barely any straining and no slowing down. It became stuck at one point and the rear wheels (with traction aids) never stopped spinning! Those of you in the snow belt know what usually happens.....stall....SMOKE!
The gearboxes are ok so far. I do have the drivers start in low and shift up to high. The one time he forgot, the front tires lifted a good 6 inches off the ground.
I also think that they have so much torque that they are running at the "no load" RPM. A PW on flat ground does not load them enough to slow them down. This also means that they draw less than the advertised amps under "normal use".
If you have upgraded your wire/switches....and are looking for excessive torque....These are a good choice.

Re: REVEIW- Banebots 775 18volt motor
I looked all over and can't find them online but I know years ago I bought some metal RC motor shims to space a motor out from a gearbox. Thats an idea if anyone can find them.

taz11, would it be very time-consuming or difficult for you to get a pic of the shim thing connected. I don't understand what it is used for and how it fits.

Re: REVEIW- Banebots 775 18volt motor
It goes between the motor and the gearbox. It moves the motor out and repositions the motor side to side. Without the shim, the gear only meshes on the very edge.

blake711 wrote:taz did you need longer motor bolts?
Loaded question......
I bought new motor bolts because I was out. These motors use the same bolts as the PW 700 motors found in MF jeeps. I placed a few washers under the bolt head to prevent the end of the bolt from hitting the armature. This is normal situation because the #7 GB is more narrow that the MF GB. I shimmed a 40mm bolt. I believe a 35mm bolt would be perfect but I could not find any locally. The diameter is listed on the BB site. I believe it was 4.0mm

Re: REVEIW- Banebots 775 18volt motor
Were there any canadian distributors listed.
Or did you find any in your searches.
by the way what key words did you use to search for these motor.
Re: temperature.
an air conditioning teacher in college had a simple way of estimating temp.
Human normal temp is 37c/98f
so our hands are about 30c/86f.
so if it's cold to the touch its lower than 30c/86f
if its warm to the touch its higher than 30c/86f
at 50c/122f you'll let go.
might help picking the right wires.

Our tongue is stored inside so its warmer than our hands. Therefore there's not as great a difference in temp between our tongues and hot stuff as there is our hands and hot stuff.blake711 wrote:dozer makes me wonder what temp our toung is since you can pick up stuff that is hot to the touch but when you eat it the temp is just right. :?:
Strange when you consider our tongues do hotter things than our hands.

My daughter was the same way first couple years of her life was always busting her face. She would bust her lip or chin or nose every-time she fell. Never seemed to catch herself.taz11 wrote:blake711 wrote: Who fell in the mud?

My son almost always gets his hands out and catches himself. Two totally different people for sure. He also doesn't cry unless he is hurt bad. He wipes out looks at me for conformation that he is "OK" then gets up and takes off again. My daughter aka drama queen cries and needs an ice pack and band-aids for virtually every bump.
Yes the mud thing gets me also. We have a small garden but with them always digging in it and now thinking driving power wheels through it is fun. It may just become another play area for them.

You can't make snowmen out of powder snow. It won't stick together, like dry sand.
In fact we just got the first snowfall of packing snow yesterday. Made our first snowmen today.

Here is the build thread.....http://www.modifiedpowerwheels.com/foru ... C_ID=13583
Four wheel drive can get a little complicated. My jeep is somewhat overkill. It can be accomplished with less work. A GraveDigger is somewhat difficult to mount the front gearboxes. I am doing this to a GD but I have not completed it yet. http://www.modifiedpowerwheels.com/foru ... C_ID=19450
Do a search for things like "4x4, 4wd, fourwheel drive". There are many on the site. Don't for get to check the "archived forums" also. Lots of stuff over there.

Taz when you used the skid steer frame member to make the front wheel drive. Did you also look at the front of the dune beetle and silverado. I thought they might also work for a front wheel drive set up. I looked at it this summer briefly but never got back to it.
Has any one ever sucessfully put tracks on one of these.

The skid seer is narrow to allow for gearbox clearance..... Any ather module that ive seen causes the front to be excessively wide.
It would be easy to weld up a custom part....if you have the tools to do it.

I started out with some clear lexan scraps.....about 1/8 inch (roughly) in thickness. I threw my mic on it later... measures .095...so slightly less than 1/8"
First i used a 1 3/4" holesaw to cut the discs.
Then I used a step bit (uni-bit) to open the pilot hole up to 11/16"
Place the shim on the end of the motor and trace the air vents and the mounting holes. Then drill them out. For the air holes I drill two holes and the cut out the extra with shears.(shown in yellow)

where did you get the 60/80 throttle relay? and switches?taz11 wrote:These are the motors..... http://banebots.com/pc/MOTOR-BRUSH/M7-RS775-18
They are actually Mabuchi RS775WC-8514. ...
I am using a 60/80 amp throttle relay in this jeep. I have no idea how stock stuff would hold up. The 12 ga wire will all 4 motors running off it, gets slightly warm.
If you have upgraded your wire/switches....and are looking for excessive torque....These are a good choice.
I want to throw these guys in and run 12v and bump to 18v but would it be a guarantee to fry everything? Or just get things hot?
I would rather plan ahead then get caught with a dead power wheel for a week... my son will pooh a purple twinky if he cant get his fix!

I cant remember exactly. I googled it and ended up buying from a car audio place.
I am running 4wd so I have 4 motors. With two motors you may be ok....just can't guarentee it. You can operate the relay with the stock pedal switch.

Thanks. They had them at Lowes in the specialty drawers. Got them mounted on the 21T gearboxes last night.

Re: REVEIW- Banebots 775 18volt motor
A question that the engines have 19000 RPM that say in the page of BANEBOTS? I just need that data thanks
Re: REVEIW- Banebots 775 18volt motor
is it often difficult to modify these to fit on peg perego gear boxes?
