Boise State Bronco 4wheeler (peg perego thundercat)

Post by gwinnythepooh »

Here is my project. Over the next week I am turning my and my sons beloved pp thundercat into a bronco fan machine.

I started tear down and paint today however the 2 year old is none to excited to give up his daily driver so this will be interesting... So I'm starting with non essential parts.

Here it is original:

Making some serious headway in the last couple days.

I forgot to take a pic of the wheels- but they are silver like the brush guard. I will reasemble the wheels tomorrow and get the frame back up off the ground.

Here is some paint pics. It turned out amzing. I am not sure the pics do it justice. the seat is beyond cool. So in a couple days after it cures in the sun I will wet sand and final clear.
I did Krylon Fusion with the Adhesion spray, and then Rustoleum clear over it. Is it too early to feel lucky that I have no webbing or wrinkle?

I know that I "hurried" my process a bit, but I figured with sun baking in 100 degrees for 3 days was good.
I wet sanded and then cleared again for a brilliant shine. It looks soooo good. Theres a few flaws here and there where I or my husband screwed something up, but barely noticeable. One part was a mud flap trying to get it back on the paint chipped. But I expected that... those things are flimsy plastic and I didn't figure they'd hold paint well.

I am really impressed with my first project!! :)

I still need rear hubcaps and if I can ever locate some other parts, like the shifter I will replace those. A big thanks to Sea Stork for the new grips!!!!!!

Looks great! Another new mommy painter here. How did you get all the decals for your team and the F/R stuff done? I'd love to see if I can paint my 18 month olds ATV for a TN theme. My husband would DIE!

Thanks! I am so in love with it! Everyone that sees it is just in Awe! Its parked in my front yard with a big flag on it for tonights game!

So for the Team logos and the Chrome head on the front, those are stickers/decals from the team shop (school bookstore etc) and then the original gauges I took to a decal shop, they photo shopped the old decals that I had scanned and made me new silver ones. They custom made the flames for me. I spent about $30 on decals and stickers total, but it was necessary.
So I Painted everything, then applied all the decals, then clear coated over them all so that they never fade or peel. It looks amazing.

For the seat I used White Pinstripe as the yard stripes and again cleared over that whole thing.

Haha! Thanks. My son is a cutie as well. :) He'll be 3 in November.

The seat was a crazy feat but sooo paid off. I love it.

This game is stressing me out. But I bleed Blue and Orange. 8-)

Very sad moment here in pooh corner.

Thundercat was sold this weekend. I thought I was going to curl up in a ball. It was like breaking up with your first love.

That seat belonged in the smithsonian

It went for $250.

This was my first pw, my first peg, my first problem, my first paint job, I loved it more than a lot of things...

It's going to be a long grieving process.

He was just saying "wheres she taking my 4Weller" lol.

Hes over it already, luckily he's got 8 more parked in the garage. He's getting his off road machine- the Eliminator and we also got a bigger Peg 700. Thus why this had to go. Sad Panda

Do you have pics? I'd love to see it. I'd take another one in a heartbeat to fix
