Mustang Boss 36v 1000w V.3

Post by Coopz »

Modified the mustang this weekend, using the same frame design setup on previous rides.Atv wheels, belt drive and the 50amp motion dynamics speed controller.front spindles and rear axle had to be shaved down to 10mm to fit the wheel bearings also adding thread with lock nuts.utilising the space under the seats for batteries (2 X 12v 15ah) and will use the power wheels 12v battery under the hood for LED lights.looking forward testing this one out this week.

I'd like to see some video of how this worked out. I currently have a 3 year old in an older mustang and just upgraded to the ML toys 21T gear boxs and motors as he killed a gearbox. and a 6 year old who has a safety first corvette un modified at the moment but I just got done painting a barbie corvette body that I was planning on making a 24 V car with something along this line.. just wasn't sure if these motors got out of the hole and or had decent run speed.. 6 year old likes to make his mustang drift when i toss the extra 6 V battery in line to let him run around for a little bit.. I keep it short as to not burn up the new gearboxes

yeah stock tires are pretty much gone already. but the kid loves to slide.. got a year and a half out of that set of tires. was looking at doing a 24 V system like this but was hoping I could find a motor with similar out of the hole torque for the kid.

A year and a half that is good, the 24v Lamborghini I built we'd get 4 weeks out of the plastic wheels. Will be over volting these motors to 36v on the weekend and see how much quicker it goes, but really I build them for run times.missions into town is good fun.

Coopz I'm still waiting to see some more pics and videos on your McQueen build. I'm starting my second build now. I'm doing the scooter motors on the second McQueen. If all goes well I will do a similar set up on the Dinoco McQueen. Do you need to change the controller to bump it up to 36v?

Lightning is sitting there begging for more work on him. I ran it on 24v with the 48v motor but it was under powered (going to swap it out for 36v 800w motor I have sitting in a box of goodies) so put it aside while I played with a few other cars. The controller which is used is rated 24v-36v so it will be no problems. I'm off to Bali next week for a surf trip so after that modding will be back on the cards.

I'm planning on setting up the rear wheels so I can use large Diameter PVC rubber type tires for days when the kid wants to slide. and There grandma has 5 acres with a drive that runs front to back of the yard and a big loop in the back where grandpa puts most of his septic business supplies in sheds . So I can set them up to race the yard here or the driveway there and be able to still get their slide on when they want to. yeah the stock tires were fine when he was learning the car and running normal 12 v.. since the 18 has come into periodic use i've watched the tires disintegrating quickly. and the safety first corvette that i plan on doing this 24 V conversion to is a little heavier. Paint is done ish.. just need to figure out what im doing for a motor..

2 of those 100w and scooter controller with plastic wheels will still get that drifting fun happening.even better still get a 36v controller and it will be a rocking little car.

Pretty stoked with the new 36v set up in the mustang now. Using one motor,48v 1000w and running it in 36v. No issues with the 60amp fuse blowing with 2 kids in the car now and running 3 18ah 12v sla batteries,so it has a bit more pick up as well. The steering set up will have to be upgraded soon thou as it's getting a bit of slop in the steering wheel. Here's a video of a mission into newcastle to check out the family fun day for a up and coming supercar race that will be held in the streets of newcastle at the end of the year.
